Fix Home Page Hijacking
One of Desktop Armor's many features lets you fix your computer if your home page has been hijacked. This puts you back in control of your web browser, not some website (that most likely is also showing you lots of ads too!) Some simple steps below to fix your home page from being hijacked.
  1. The first step is to get Desktop Armor and then run its installer!
  2. Once it's running on your computer, double click it running down in your tray icons, a picture:
  3. Then you want to switch to the "Tools" tab.
  4. On the bottom of that page is an "Emergency Browser Reset". Click that.
  5. You want to at least do the top 2 items, "Reset Web Pages" and "Reset Permissions", as well as the "Reset Other Settings".
  6. That's it, your home page is now set to blank and you can change it to whatever you want.
If they hijacker comes back after you reboot, some more things to do and check.

Watching For Changes
Desktop Armor will now also watch your home page for changes, so if some scoundrel ever tries to change it again, you'll immediately be notified and can fix it right then by clicking "No" on the window that will appear.

Nasty Homepage Hijackers
Some especially evil homepage hijackers will add other things to your computer so that your homepage is hijacked again the next time you start Windows or restart your browser. Desktop Armor can help with this too.
  • Double click the Desktop Armor tray icon again.
  • Then you want to switch to the "Tools" tab again.
  • The "Browser Helper Editor" and the "Startup Editor" are the ones to look in. They show a list of things that are plugged into your web browser or that will start when Windows starts.
  • If you look thru the lists, you may see things that are related to the homepage hijacker...that would be the one to uncheck!
  • If you don't see anything and need some help, you can click the "Report" buttons on the Startup Editor and Browser Helper Editor and paste the reports it makes into an email to us.
