Translations
Geek Superhero can now be translated into other languages! These language translations have been created by regular Geek Superhero users. Create your own!

These patches are not created by Headlight Software and any problems with the translation (wrong words, spelling, etc) should be directed to the creator of the patch. For any problems or help with Geek Superhero, see the Support pages. These will translate the program only--so far the help files haven't been translated (it's a lot more text.)

You must already have the correct version of Geek Superhero installed for these to work. Help installing these patches.

Installing Translations
To install these patches. (Note, any .EXE files will install themselves if you just run them, .ZIP ones follow these simple steps.)
  1. Download the translation you want above.
  2. UnZIP the files and save into the directory where Geek Superhero is installed.
    Usually C:\Program Files\Geek Superhero\
If you need a program to unZIP the files, we recommend WinZip.
  3. From Windows Explorer, run the INSTALL.REG file to add the settings to use the patch. (Name of this file may be translated too.)
  4. Close and restart Geek Superhero. That's it!

Creating Translations
Geek Superhero supports a fairly easy way to translate it into any language. It supports using an "Language DLL" that contains all the text and windows used in Geek Superhero. The DLL is plugged into Geek Superhero with just a couple registry changes. (The same system used by GetRight for years, supporting dozens of languages.)

What you'll need to do the translation:

  • Preferably Bi-Lingual in English and another language. Duh.
  • It is much easier if you have Visual C++ so you can compile and test the translation easily (VC++ version 4.0 or higher will work.)
If you do not have this, I can build the DLL, as long as the characters used in the translation are in the "Extended-English" alphabet. Characters like " " are OK, but characters like Japanese I can not do, and you will need the correct language version of Visual C++.
  • We can help with the images that contain text, or any paint program (even Paint or the one built into Visual C++) can be used to change the image text.
  • The Geek Superhero 1.0.2 Translation Kit.

What you'll get in return for creating the translation:

  • A registration code for Geek Superhero.
  • Credit on the About page in Geek Superhero for the translation.
  • Credit on this Translations download page. It can link to your website, etc.
  • I believe some people have gotten some good press for themselves by doing GetRight translations. Getting mentioned in magazines for creating the translations when GetRight was reviewed!
